Sportsman's Landing / Russian River Ferry
Overview
Positioned at River Mile 75, Sportsman's Landing is one of the busiest access points on the upper river, largely due to the seasonal Russian River Ferry that transports anglers across the Kenai to target Sockeye salmon at the Russian River confluence.
Who It's For
Sockeye salmon anglers, drift boaters putting in for the upper river float, and fly fishermen targeting Rainbow Trout in the canyon/ferry reaches.
What You'll Find
A paved boat launch, large fee parking area, public restrooms, and the Russian River Ferry. This is a highly developed site managed by the US Forest Service.
Location
Mile 55 of the Sterling Highway, well-marked with highway signage.
Best Times to Visit
June and July for the early and late runs of Russian River Sockeye. August and September for trophy trout fishing behind the spawning salmon.
Why Choose Sportsman's Landing
Exceptional convenience and direct access to the world-famous Russian River confluence. It's the starting point for the classic drift float down to Jim's Landing.
Additional Information
Extremely crowded during the June/July "combat fishing" sockeye runs. Strict bear protection regulations are in effect—keep all food and fish in designated storage lockers.
