🚨 Important Update for 2025: Kenai River King Salmon Closed, Kasilof River Kings Restricted

If you’re planning a fishing trip to Alaska in 2025, there’s an important update you need to know about the Kenai Peninsula salmon season.
The Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) has announced changes that will impact King Salmon fishing on both the Kenai River and Kasilof River this summer.

Here’s what you need to know before you book your trip:

❌ Kenai River King Salmon Fishing Closed for 2025

For conservation reasons, King Salmon fishing on the Kenai River will be closed for the entire 2025 season.
This means:

  • No targeting or retention of King Salmon (Chinook) on the Kenai River

  • No catch-and-release fishing for Kings

  • No King-focused charters offered

At Kenai-Fishing.com, we support these conservation measures 100%. Protecting future generations of King Salmon is essential to keeping the Kenai River healthy for years to come.

⚠️ Kasilof River King Salmon Fishing: Restrictions in Place

While the Kasilof River will remain open for King Salmon fishing, new regulations are in effect for 2025:

  • Fishing will be restricted to hatchery-produced King Salmon only

  • Wild Kings must be immediately released

  • Gear and bait restrictions may apply (single-hook, no bait periods expected)

We are still offering limited Kasilof River fishing trips, but Kings will not be a primary target for 2025. We recommend focusing on Sockeye, Silvers, Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden for the best fishing experience.

🎣 What Species Should You Target Instead?

2025 is shaping up to be a phenomenal year for other Kenai Peninsula fishing opportunities, including:

✅ Plenty of incredible fishing action — even without Kings!

🛥️ How Kenai-Fishing.com Is Adapting for 2025
