Kenai Fly Fish was founded by lifelong Alaskan angler Ian McDonald, who has spent decades chasing salmon, trout, and steelhead throughout the Pacific Northwest. What started as a deep love for the outdoors and a personal passion for fishing has grown into one of Alaska’s most trusted guiding operations.
Ian built Kenai Fly Fish around a simple belief: that the best fishing experiences come from local knowledge, top-tier gear, and a deep respect for the land and water. Every trip is rooted in that belief—from the rods in our boats to the relationships we build with every guest who steps aboard.
As our company has grown, so has our desire to share this place with more people. That’s why we expanded from our original website, KenaiFlyFish.com, to also include Kenai-Fishing.com. Same crew, same boats, just a little more room to stretch out. (We figured if the Kenai can have two sockeye runs, we can have two websites too—especially when you’ve got a good friend who builds solid ones.)
No matter how you find us, the experience stays the same: honest, local, conservation-focused fishing led by people who live here, fish here, and care deeply about what this river gives us. We leave every spot better than we found it—and we hope our guests take that mindset with them when they leave.
