Kenai River Late-Run King Salmon Sport Fishery is Closed for 2025

❗ Important Conservation Update for Alaska Anglers

The Kenai River late-run king salmon sport fishery is officially closed for 2025, according to the latest ADF&G Emergency Order. This closure protects the struggling king salmon run and ensures future sustainability for anglers and wildlife alike.

🔒 Why Is the King Salmon Fishery Closed?

ADF&G biologists forecast that escapement goals for late-run Chinook salmon will not be met. As a result:

  • All king salmon sport fishing is closed July 1–31, 2025

  • 🚫 No catch-and-release or targeting of kings is allowed

  • ⚠️ Applies to all gear types and angler methods

📘 See the Kenai River Fishing Regulations for full rule details.
